Day four and more blessings!
Today is day four and we are still seeing God work in everything! Jace came through surgery very well and Dr Sponseller was pleased with the surgery. Jace had a few bumps to get through the first few hours after surgery, like getting mad and holding his breath until he passed out:( He did this two times and it was scary to watch! Never fun to see a nurse grabbing for CPR things and oxygen. But he stopped doing that after a few hours.
The night before he would wake up every hour saying he was scared and for me to hold him, that was a hard time. But we would pray and he would go back to sleep. The next day, which was the 17th, yesterday (have to keep things in order for my sake!) he stayed up all day. He was active with his arms and watched Cars and Toy Story. But he could never calm down enough to go to sleep. Finally, last night, we gave him some good meds and he crashed out...for the whole night!! Yipee! He needs to sleep so he can heal. Dewey (grandpa) stayed with him over night and I got to sleep at the house we are staying. And have I mentioned that the house we are staying at is only a half block away:) We can run back and forth easily, such a beautiful simple blessing from our great God!! He always knows what we need:)
Today, after a good nights sleep, he has been eating well, playing with his cars and talking with us. We pray he continues to do so well. The pain management team came in today and stated that he is doing great and one of the best they have seen. Praise GOD!! Jace has been able to endure because of God leading him through, easing the pain and giving Jace grace as only God can give! Because of God, and His grace of giving us Jesus! Nothing that we can earn, just His gift!
This hospital that God has blessed us with is amazing too! The staff and doctors are knowledgable and we have had no problems at all. The rooms all have bathrooms and it's a private room. They have a food court with many choices that are healthy:) State of the art hospital:)
We wanted to share our daily routine with you so you can get a glimpse of what it's like here.
1. Pin Care: This is when the nurses clean and dress the pins that go directly into his pelvic bone to hold it in place. they have to push back the skin also so it does not attach to the pins. this is very painful for Jace and it takes about 5 mins. to get it all done.
2. Changing bedding and diapers: Since Jace can't bend at the waist three nurses have to pick him straight up into the air, change the bedding and diaper (fast!) and then put him back down on the bed. this has become known as "flying" to Jace:) It is painful while happening but it must feel nice to get some air to his back, because he asks to do it again when they get done:)
3. Taking Oral Meds.: Right now he has to take 4 different meds at different times of the day. He doesn't like it:/
Prayer requests:
1. For Jace to continue to do well with pain meds. and to continue to be still so he can heal well. Also for rest for him.
2. For Danny, myself, Mary and Dewey as we take shifts and communicate to each other the happenings, and to continue to be able to get rest when needed.
3. For Ian (3) he misses his brother and playing with him. We have them Facetime each other daily, but it's not the same.
4. Continued wisdom for the doctors and nurses to do what is the best for Jace
Thank you for praying! If you want to follow on Facebook we have a page for Jace called Prayer Warriors for Jace. His second surgery is on the 29th.

Continuing to lift all of you up in prayer... Thank you for letting us know about what you are experiencing. We will pray more specifically for those needs. May God's grace surround Jace and may the healing continue. Praying that His peace will soothe all anxious thoughts. Praying for the upcoming surgery.
